Best of luck! Soap stars
and sports stars are backing the City Run
Bradford Bulls players, Bradford City players and cast members from the popular soap Emmerdale have all got the running bug - and can't wait to see the Bradford City Run to get off to a cracking start on Sunday, October 17.
Backing the city's new half marathon are Andy Lynch, an English professional who currently plays for Bradford Bulls, Bradford City players Shane Duff and Louis Horne along with their coach Junior Lewis, Duncan Preston who plays Doug Potts, father of Laurel Thomas in Emmerdale, and Natalie Anderson, who recently joined the Emmerdale cast as Alicia, sister of Leyla. Natalie, who was born in Bradford, was a former cheerleader for Bradford Bulls.

Councillor Paul Flowers, Portfolio Holder with responsibility for Culture, Tourism and Sport said: "We're delighted we've got such great local names supporting the Bradford City Run which will be even bigger and better than last year's event. Our half marathon takes in city and rural views which reflects the diversity of the district and contributes to a unique experience."
Calling all local schools
Now’s the time to show off your school’s sporting prowess and be in with the chance of taking home some stunning silverware for the trophy cabinet. And remember it’s the school with the most participants that wins! (Teachers count too by the way!)
To encourage youngster to participate in this year’s Junior City Run, all junior and secondary schools in the region are being invited to submit running teams for individual prizes broken down by age group.
The school with the highest number of entrants will receive the magnificent meter tall silver trophy donated by Simon Price, CEO of Arthur Price, and former alumni of Bradford University.
Officially launched!
The Bradford City Run 2010 campaign was officially launched on 11 March 2010. Last year, Steve Cram and a group of young runners helped to get the ball rolling, while this year, we welcomed 120 pupils from Heaton St. Barnabas Primary School who created a human formation of the Bradford City Run logo in Lister Park.
Also present was the winner of the 2009 men’s 5 mile race, Christopher Burke. The publicity launch saw the unveiling of outline plans and the route for 2010 for the first time. Early preparations have been shaping up to build on last year’s successes and make this year’s City Run surpass all expectations. This year, the event will stage five runs simultaneously: a 13mile half marathon and a x4 half marathon relay set in and around glorious Yorkshire countryside; a 5k fun run; a 3k kids race and a 1k kids race. These three will be held in beautiful Lister Park.
If you’re a local or national business looking to partner a calendar sporting event, that achieves great media coverage, then there are many exciting sponsorship opportunities available.
